February 14th 2013 is upon us, quicker I think than we all imagined - the day the kids return to school for kinder, primary and secondary with us on The Phoenix Projects, and they can't wait. The classrooms are being prepared, planning sessions are being undertaken to make 2013 the best year so far for our education projects in Nicaragua.
This year, your very kind donations will be going towards the salaries of our local eight teachers who give classes to the kinder children and reinforcement sessions for primary and secondary. We are also bringing in a local sports teacher, as well as a local English teacher, to prove that anything is possible in the communities. By investing in local talent, knowledge and qualified teachers, the projects become more sustainable as reliance from afar lessens over the years. Obviously donations are needed to pay for their salaries, though the very presence of local employment is a huge plus.
We will also be investing in Plan Chicken, which moves towards our sustainability model, by investing in income-generating sustainable plans and in the future, will bring in income for the schools to help pay the monthly costs. Eggas and meat which come from chickens can be used in the school meals and also sold to bring income into the school.
Finally, we will also be running charity challenges in Nicaragua, so if you want to come down, see where your money is going, lend a hand and get involved in a charity challenge, please do email us on email@example.com and have a look at the website on www.thephoenixprojects.org
Many thanks for making 2013 a special year, in the past, present and indeed future!
During this holiday season, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays, we have launched our Food and Fruit appeal to raise funds for all our children in Nicaragua to receive daily hot food and fresh fruit in 2013. Learning on an empty stomach is not possible, the concentration levels fall and nothing goes in. Our education projects depend on the child being fit and ready to learn, hence we provide daily food and fruit for them. During this season, spare a thought for those less-fortunate, and thanks so much in advance for your generosity during which is a period of giving thanks!
