A young girl of 16 years in form 3 in high school come to st. Vincent de paul nursery school for advice. She said she had come from school because her mother who is HIV positive was very sick and admitted in hospital and her young sibling had been left on their own. She needed to visit her sponsors office which is an organization that support education to the less fortunate so that she could take the receipt of her paid school fees. I asked her when she was going to go back but she said she wanted to go back on Sunday but she wasnt sure because she did not have transport to take her to school. She said the organization does not give transport only fees uniform and sanitary towel for girls. So she is normally forced to sell 5 packets of the sanitary towels she gets not of the 8 packets so that she can have transport to school. I advice her to talk to the direct of the organization that sponsors her about the problem which she did but it didnt bear much fruits. The director said they cannot cater for transport. I gave her transport from my pocket but what happened next time when she will need to go to school?
