A Bedouin community in greater Jerusalem built a school for their children, then rebuilt their school each time it was demolished. A Jerusalem rabbi and the village ask your help w school upgrades.
The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs identifies this village as one of nineteen Bedouin communities at risk of removal to make way for the Separation Wall, planned to reach far into the West Bank to encircle the Israeli settlements of Greater Jerusalem. The families of this valley, the poorest of all in the region, hold a deep commitment to the education of their children. For 20 yrs, Jerusalem Rabbi Jeremy Milgrom worked with the Jahalin Bedouing, building school rooms, teacher training, bringing tutors. With UN OCHA he mapped the Bedouin communities at risk of removal. Many asked help to build schools. Begin here.
Close to 100 girls and boys will have access to education. Their community and those nearby will see that people around the world care what happens to them. Worldwide advocacy on behalf of native peoples may help save their homes from removal.
