Summary
To supplement costs for secondary and post-secondary education for girls and women in Liberia to prepare them for gainful employment and constructive participation in the nation's development
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Liberia has been devastated by years of civil war. In the few places where education is available, the priority for families is on educating boys. This education fund will supplement the costs for females seeking to finish their schooling and pursue post-secondary education opportunities, preparing them to contribute to rebuilding Liberia.
How will this project solve this problem?
This project will support women’s efforts to improve their skills and further their education by supplementing their tuition costs.
Potential Long Term Impact
Recipients will pursue courses that prepare them to play a role in the economic, social, and political development of Liberia.
Project Message
Women's participation is critical to a peaceful future for Liberia. Women must have access to education in order to advocate for their needs and influence decisions in their country. Frances Fortune
