First Quarter Activity Updates

Coffee Session
Coffee Session

We had exciting activities for the past 3 months which can be summarised as follows:

Coffee Session in February'13

Parents and families from all programmes met up and shared experiences as well as fellowshipped with one another. As it was held during Chinese New Year, they all had fun tossing yee sang and exchanging words of blessings and encouragement.

Parents Support Group in March'13

Our guest speaker, Ms Jac Ang shared about her journey and experiences with her 18 year-old son who has autism. She also shared about the teaching methods she used for her son. Parents, families and other service providers attended the sharing.

Melaka River Cruise Tour in March'13

This trip is opened to all programmes and participants are parents & families, EIP & SAP children, YAP trainees and Wings staff. We all had fun touring the Melaka River and it is a great time of bonding and learning together.

EIP & SAP Children's Birthday Celebration in April'13

We had small parties for each group in EIP & SAP classes to celebrate the birthdays of those born in the months of January to April. Parents brought refreshments and party packs were given to each child. This activity is to teach them to learn how to communicate and socialise with others, for instance: wishing "Happy Birthday" to birthday boy/girl, saying "Thank You" when receiving gifts etc.

 YAP Bowling Activity in April'13

The activity was held in Mahkota Parade, Melaka. Our trainees and their instructors took public transportation to the event. They all had fun with friendly competitions with each other.

YAP Slumber Party in April'13

Our trainees and their instructors stayed over at the centre for one night. Activities conducted during their stay include independent living skills such as personal grooming & hygiene, shopping, buying their own meals (teaching value of money) etc.

We also have a few consultants helping us in improving and fine-tuning our programmes and services. As of April 2013, we have 21 students in EIP (8 new students since January 2013) and 6 trainees in YAP (2 new trainees since January 2013). In view that SAP is a follow through programme from EIP, the number of students remain unchanged at 11 students.

It had been a great first quarter of the year and as we gear up ourselves for the next quarter, we hope to continue spreading out our love and reaching out to these children, trainees and their families.
