$430 $49,570
Raised Remaining

Six national country programs in Africa educate 9000 disadvantaged children, particularly girls, in health, social and soccer skills through fun recreational community based activities.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

PLAY SOCCER: Cameroon, Ghana, Malawi, Senegal, South Africa, Zambia engages young children, particularly girls, ages 5-14 to maximize early childhood learning and life time benefits, trains local youth as volunteer instructors, reaches large population segments weekly, year round, and provides a grassroot catalyst for broad long term sustainable socio-economic development.

How will this project solve this problem?

Weekly sessions integrate health, social and soccer activities into a holistic curriculum. Local youth train as instructors to develop knowledge, leadership and competency-- international cultural exchange through country program networks.

Potential Long Term Impact

Will serve 25,000 children year round by 2010, educating children and youth in life skills and soccer, encouraging mass participation in sport, building community development up from micro grassroots level with local resources and social enterprise
