Setting the 100% benchmark!
Following last year’s trend, this year too, there was 100% pass percentage in 10th & 12th grade. 36 girls from 10th & 28 girls from 12th sat for U.P state board examinations this year. 27 Girls from 10th & 36 from 12th secured first division (60%). Girls are thrilled and excited with their results. The ecstatic bunch is ready to make a mark in their lives.
The maximum percentage scored by the girls last year was 68%. This year we are up by 6%. Manisha is this year's 12th grade topper with 74.4%. She will be joining Pardada Pardadi gang in NTTF, Bangalore soon to pursue a diploma course in Computer Applications.
Voicing the Change
The GLP panel consists of 15 members from diverse socio-cultural background, who have been living in poverty and had experienced extreme marginalization. All the panelists presented their responses and recommendations on the post-2015 global development framework (post MDG’S). She dreams of becoming a computer engineer and wants to set up her own business to help other girls who want to study. Pinki envisions a world which is free from poverty and discriminative practices towards girls and boys.
Serving the community
Pardada Pardadi in collaboration with International Medical Relief (IMR) organized a week long rural health camp in 6 villages of Anupshahr held from 23rd -28th June this year. The camp was a huge success! Over 60 volunteers including PPES’ staff, senior students and girls pursuing nursing course participated in the camp. It was a great learning opportunity for the girls to apply their nursing knowledge in the real world.
Youth Festival: Celebrating and Saluting Young Talent
The event witnessed healthy exchange of ideas/learnings through debates, extempore, painting/poster making competitions and mono- acting performances done by the students.
Besides the competitions, there were games, workshops and field trips for the participants. Ms. Taruna from Pardada Pardadi spoke to the girls about Human Rights while Ms. Mitra from J.P.Vidya Mandir taught the girls the use of appliqué work in Handicraft. Issues such as Dowry and the increased use of Mobile Phones were well depicted in the Mono-acting competition. The event concluded on an enthusiastic note with a promise to return next year.
Independence Day Celebrations
The 67th Independence Day celebrations kicked off with full fervour and patriotic feeling at the school. The function started with the hoisting of the flag within the school premises, followed by group song and dance performances by the girls. Distribution of traditional Indian sweets concluded the day on a promising and sweet note.
Same day, 50 students (10th -12th grade) joined hands with 450 other students and participated in a march Celebrating the Independence Day. Over 500 students from 10-12 government/private schools participated in the rally. Two of Pardada Pardadi girls- Manisha (12th grade) and Shivani (10th grade)were felicitated for securing top positions in UP board Exmainations.
