Working animal owners of Nepalgunj of Nepal are marginalized people and their earnings are below subsistence level, so they cannot afford education for their children and women due to their involvement in domestic chores and animal husbandry for livelihood earnings support. They need subsidies in books, stationary, school dress, fees and even in food to continue their education at school with frequent monetary support to their parents' needs.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The owner of the working animal drive their animals at the early hour of the dawn to their work site or brick kilns. Children from five year on-wards have to assist their guardians in domestic chores and in the sites. Earnings from the labor of owner and animals is merely subsistence. They believe they cannot afford to send their children school and their job does not need education either. So the children are deprived of their basic right of education which this project aims to address.
How will this project solve this problem?
The project aims to provide education to the children at the school to their nearest by providing school expenses, school dresses, meals and monetary subsidies to their guardians that they expected income from their children. This project will run informal education classes for their elderly members also at an appropriate time in the evening. Thus this project will bring a new impact in the community who never cared for or thought about education for their family.
Potential Long Term Impact
We will provide education to 550 children and juvenile along with their 244 guardians which will help them to rise out of poverty. Education will change the attitude of the children. They will opt for a new career to meet the growing challenges other than their traditional animal business that is hard to keep them alive. Educated persons will have recognition in the society they live. So they will live a better life and will have better future with lots of opportunities.
