This project will benefit 150 HIV/AIDS Positive Orphans and Disabled Children supported by Shine Africa Ministries (SAM) in Soroti and Serere Districts with basic Scholastic Materials, Health Care/Medicare Services through provision of treatment, Counseling and referrals; Group Farming/Vegetable growing in Schools and Community Gardens for Improvement of their Livelihoods, Income Raising, Food Security and Sustainability for future payment of school fees.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Most families and Children in Teso, have fallen prey to HIV/AIDS, 93.3% of orphans are Positive and suffer from frequent disease burdens/attacks, depressions, sorrows and usually 80% are exposed to malnutrition, or engaged in stressful labour, lack protection, have high school drop -out rates due to the inability of guardians to provide basic scholastic needs, 90% drop out of school. So to overcome these constraints, SAM will continue to give care and support.
How will this project solve this problem?
Through this project 85% of the HIV/AIDS Positive Orphans and Disabled Children will complete Primary School, High School Drop-out rates will reduce and frequent disease burdens/attack will also diminish because of continuous education support, health care/Medicare services provided and also improved livelihood, increased incomes, food security, nutrition status and stable fees payment.
Potential Long Term Impact
Extreme Poverty will significantly be reduced among these 150 Vulnerable and Marginalized children, Malnutrition will be checked, Health and Livelihoods will be improved and enhanced; 100% of these marginalized children will have an ability to pay their own school fees in the future and will be able to sustain themselves for the rest of their lives.
