Final Project Report

Dear GlobalGiving Friends,

We want to thank you for your support in partnering with Communities of the Earth to provide rural Guatemalan families with filters and stoves. With your support, we were able to partner with two rural groups in the villages of Jocotan (Chiquimula), in the Eastern Part of Guatemala and Pastores (Sacatepequez), in the highlands of Guatemala. A total of 28 water filters and 16 stoves, were bought with the GlobalGiving project,  in partnership with the rural families.  9 more filters will be delivered to the village of Pastores during the month of May 2013, finishing this first GlobalGiving Project.

Filters and stoves are part of the Wakami Village Program, which allows rural communities to learn and see first hand about products and services that transform their lives, improving especially the health of their families.  Through the partnership with you and GlobalGiving, the Wakami Village Program has become stronger in these communities.  Other organizations have also joined, partnering for solar panels and organic gardens.  One partnership at a time, one home at a time, rural women are starting to transform their lives and families.

What we are seeing at Communities of the Earth is that when rural women have a source of income, and co-invest in products and services that improve their lives, real change begins to happen, starting with their children.  Malnutrition decreases, education increases, communities prosper!!!

Thank you for joining us in this partnership with rural Guatemalan women!!!  We also want to thank Agora Partnerships and GlobalGiving, for providing the connection between you and the families of Guatemala!!
