Water At Home Is Life At Home (waholiho)

Map of Water at Home is Life at Home (WAHOLIHO) Lugulu/Bwalipo water project is a community water initiative intended to benefit about 20,000 people in three sub locations. started way back in 1971, it benefited just a few people going to fetch water there and one school of population of 600 having connected pipes. The spring has enough water to serve the people but currently about 8,000 are benefiting through a government grant of US$50000 electricity has been installed , a motor to pump storage tanks put in place and pipes laid to the intended beneficiaries main lines. This water is now lying in main lorries with locks at the end of pipes. no network reaching the homes and also the main lines have not reached all the beneficiaries. Through the same community initiative with a storing management committee, the water networks to the homes can be achieved if a little boost comes from thoughtful source. The government is known to dug its feet and is also known many of its projects become white elephants. Read more.

Food Shortage

Map of FOOD SHORTAGE Coast residents are experiencing water and food shortage as drought continues when there is no rainfall.During drought season,local school is affected by the crisis example in Kilifi families and livestocks face starvation due to shortage of food and water in dry season prompting the victims to seek relief support the institutions of learning as well as health centres have been adversely affected by the drought and food shortage and there are no available areas thats why there is need for urgent interventions to avoid the situation generating. The severe drough has resulted into reduced stream base flow ground water recharge and drying up of pans,wells,seasonal river and springs. Drought Leaves Millions Hungry In East Africa

Map of DROUGHT LEAVES MILLIONS HUNGRY IN EAST AFRICA A severe drought high food prices an conflict left more than five million people hungry across the horn of Africa. the head of UNs World Food Program said. the drought began with the failure of rains late last year in northern and eastern Kenya./south.central Somalia and eastern Ethiopia said the agencys executive director Sheeran warned that the number of people in need of food assistance could increase further if the region which includes Djibouti and part of Uganda continues to receive poor rains. Green House Garden

Map of Green house garden Due to the unrealibe rainfall pattern in the country that has led to the undesired drought into families facing famine due to the lack of food in the homes.This has seen caused with the poor produce from farms and thus leading to low produce that cannot survive the hunger that is gripping the country.This has led to loss of life of children and to people due to starvation in the rural.Due to this the France Embassy launched a programme to educate the community in new farming methods that they can apply to increase the production,eg these they also helped in the creation of the green houses in the region.Thus helping in provision of food stuff with a permanent solution. Conservation Of Environment

Map of CONSERVATION OF ENVIRONMENT Our lands have been going dry ever since.Rivers drying up and lakes decreasing in volume.This was due to the encroachment of people in most of kenya's forests.The main affected forest was the ever known Mau.People living around lake victoria had started being affected because of decreament of water which could not a certain the life of fish since thats their main economic activity. The United Nation Environment Programme in conjuction with the office of the prime minister and minister for environment ventured into this.The people leaving near the forest or in the forest did not want to come out because the only saw the fertility of the forest not knowing that the enroachment affected the whole nation. The office of prime minister and ministry for environment in conjuction with UNEP, took the row, since that was the only way to eradicate desertification in the region.They told the Mau forest encroachers to come out so that the forest may be reaforestreted again to a wter catchment area. The programme which is still running currently has done alot in the conservation of the environment.The rivers which were originating from the forest have found their way out again.The areas sorounding the forest which had been started realizing less rainfall has been returned. to normal. Solving Water Crisis

Map of SOLVING WATER CRISIS Water is one of the basic needs in our society. However much important it may seem, some area still lack water. Some residential areas especially within Nairobi stay without water for very long periods of time. There have also been prolonged droughts in major dry lands especially in northern Kenya. There have been attempts by the Kenya Red Cross, the European Union and the government of Kenya to improve the situation by building dams and drilling bore holes in the most affected areas. despite the attempts, there is still greater need to help solve the situation because if not taken care of some people may succumb to the threats. There is more need to help solve the crisis. Read more.
