IBREA recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Gender and Children Affairs and the Korean Earth Citizen Alliance. The goal is to bring the Earth Citizen Movement to Sierra Leone, helping children and young people remember their true nature and recover their confidence to create their future. IBREA will start its work by providing its curriculum at the National Training Center in Bo.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Youth in Sierra Leone are facing challenges related to lack of motivation, traumatic stress, socio-economic difficulties, lack of confidence. The current educational system, when accessible, does not cater for their holistic needs.
How will this project solve this problem?
By providing the Brain Education and Earth Citizen awareness curriculum in the newly reactivated National Training Center --which has the goal to educate future social workers -- the project will help young students gain their confidence and unleash their creativity to make a better life for themselves and their community.
Potential Long Term Impact
Being social workers, their contact and practice with other people will ensure a ripple effect of the education provided.
