Special thanks to all of you who helped the Hilda Rothschild Foundation (HRF) reach out to nearly 300 poor children in El Salvador through infant and pre-school education.
The program, known as EDUCAMBIO-MONTESSORI, has made great strides forward. In January, in partnership with the Mayor and the Municipality of San Salvador, we established four new programs in early childhood centers associated with two of the major markets of the capital city: Mercado Central and Mercado Sagrado Corazón. We were given magnificent space to develop our initial and pre-school initiatives. These educational centers were recently refurbished through a grant from the Spanish government providing a great environment for the children’s growth development.
We would like to take this opportunity to recognize the amazing work of our founder and Honorary President, Dr. Lillian Moncada-Davidson, who donated her “vacation” to leading an intensive (8 hours a day) training program for 26 educators. They are now in charge of transforming ordinary day care centers to high qualitty initial education programs with a Montesssori approach.
None of this would be possible without your help: HRF donated the training, new Montessori materials and furnishings for the four programs, and covers the salaries of the supervising educators.
Our goal is to establish two new educational centers annually that will provide a good start to children of disadvantaged families. We look forward to your continued support and interest.
