As a 501c3 devoted to providing last solutions to the need for safe water in Haiti, Deep Springs is stepping up to serve those directly affected by the earthquake in addition to our ongoing efforts.
Haiti was rocked at 5:00 pm (EST) on January 12th by a devastating 7.0 earthquake followed by at least two aftershocks. Thousands, even tens of thousands are expected to have perished. In a country where the majority live on less than two dollars a day and lack access to basic necessities such as food and water, Deep Springs International (www.deepspringsinternational.org) is striving to make a lasting difference.
We locally produce and distribute Gadyen Dlo (a liquid chlorine solution) and an in-home water treatment systems through sustainable Haitian social enterprises designed to eventually operate independent of charitable aid. When aid leaves, we stay.
We impact the lives of Haitians long-term by providing a safe-water solution that is locally managed, affordable, sustainable, and effective. We establish and help build to scale Haitian-managed social enterprises using a Haitian-made solution.
