Soil Conservation

Map of SOIL CONSERVATION The earth crust is covered with soil.Most part of soil is covered by vegetation protecting the soil from wastage and detoration . The most disturbing factor is human attributes in destroying natural forest and grass land resulting to soil erosion.Soil erosion is by which the soil is deterched and carried away from one place to another. Facts that influence soil erosion are, slope of the land ,The type of soil, The amount of rainfall soil depth and deforestation.To prevent soil erosion mum needs to practice cross strips cover cropping contour farming, mulching, strip cropping. Agroforestry construction of terraces,ditches among others. experts in soil management educated farmers in Kisumu on way of soil erosion control.They put in practice what was tough and conserve their soil. Map of DEFORESTATION Trees give cover to our soils. Any continued unplanned cutting of trees without appropriate replacement exposes soil to the agents of erosion like wind and water. This is what is happening in Kenya as man attempts to collect firewood make charcoal or cut wood for industrial purposes. Such bare surfaces are vulnerable to heavy soil erosion. So i do say thanks to the government since they have enacted stiff penalties chose people convicted to deforestation cases. Read more.

Soil Erosion

Map of Soil erosion soils is a mixture of the rock particles and humus.The soil covers part of the earth's surface.soil erosion work or wind and water.soil erosion can cause removal of vegatation cover;this is when vegetation is removed,the soila are exposed to wind and running water.this may cause soil erosion. monoculture or monocropping:this is the growing of oe crop in the same land.soil erosion may cause methods of cultivation.soil erosion has effects o human activities in many ways.such as poor harvest,landslides,destruction of infrustructure desertification and drying up of water sources-but now the government of kenya and the ministry of agriculture william Ruto has made up the ideas together by stopping soil erosion in many areas. Prolonged Drought

46-60 years old , in Busia, Kenya
Map of Prolonged Drought The people of Bugengi faced problems of prolonged and unexpected drought causing poor yields. The local community based organization after being consulted, Three groups of 30 farmers were trained skills in sustainable agriculture. They started proper farming of crops that are tolerant to drought such as cassava, indigenous vegetable and bee keeping. "We are now able to harvest adequately, we even now sell honey and get money. We have achieved the knowledge of producing and marketing our product, and our community is now in progress because we are able to educate, cloth, treat our families," thanks very much for educating us. Preserve Your Green Leafy Vegetables To Make More Money

Map of PRESERVE YOUR GREEN LEAFY VEGETABLES TO MAKE MORE MONEY Alfred Ochieng of Bulindo village in Butula district of Kenyathat his village used to have bumper harvest in a particular season of the year for green leafy vegetables,during this period,women,youth and elders cooked all forms of vegetables and eat.They used the remaining vegetables to feed the livestock or roll away.When she attended a training workshop on vegetation preservation he decided to earn income each year by keeping his green leafy vegetables in water cooked double clay pots before taking them to wakulima Nairobi market,and also drying some of the vegetables using the drying methods.He made better incomethan other men in his village.He decided to introduce his top secret of making money from preserving green leafy vegetables and sell them to Mombasa,Norther Kenya where vegetables are very expensive.They followed this steps to preserve vegetables and begin to sell without any waste and sell them to generate more income. Tree Planting Excercise In Kakamega

Map of Tree planting excercise in kakamega Global warmingwas fast taking root in Africa.Things were falling apart.Industries were leading in facilitating global warming.Those who settled in water catchment areas were cutting down trees ,and planting those that sucked all the water due to their long roots.we had no idea that the activities.we were carrying out were highly contributing to destruction of our environment. Different species of animals were getting extinct.I showed this problem to one of the key member of an organization known as western water &sanitation from who promised to mobilise school children to engage in development of tree nurseries.The schools round the municipality and kakamega central have embarked on this exercise and have so far planted over 10,000 seedlings of trees from 2010.
