The project aims at equipping 5000 citizens in basic disaster response and management from over 50 city colleges, Citizen Groups, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) etc. These trainings will cover vital aspects of disasters such as dos and don't in times of disasters basic first aid skills and basic life saving skills.
In the recent past, the city of Mumbai in India has been exposed to a few devastating situations of man-made as well as natural disasters. Besides the need for systemic & infrastructural enhancements, it was also realized that, the city lacks awareness on basic disaster Preparedness and Response. Thus, it is imperative to channelize the citizen power for collective action towards better disaster Preparedness and Response in the city.
The project will equip 5000 citizens in basic disaster response and management from over 50 city colleges, Citizen Groups, Community Based Organizations (CBOs) etc. This will be done through: Identification and networking with 50 city colleges, Citizen Groups, CBOs etc. Devising training module for the duration of 6 hours covering vital aspects of disaster response and management Organizing trainings for identified stakeholders
The project interventions will result in increased level of awareness on vital aspects pertaining to both natural and man made disasters. The project will reach out to 5000 citizens through trainings. The trained citizens will then continue to spread awareness on disaster preparedness and response, thus increasing overall level of disaster preparedness.
