Best Buddies brings social opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities and strives to reduce their barriers to full participation with in their community; creating a more inclusive society.
Without programs like BBK, the majority of Kenyan youth with intellectual disabilities would be unable to participate in social activities with non-disabled students. The BBK project will aid in the socialization, independence, productivity and inclusion of students with intellectual disabilities in all aspects of society.
One-to-one friendships, Buddy Pairs, see each other twice a month taking part in everyday activities such as going out to eat, spending time at each other's homes and participating in sporting events. School Chapters hold 4 organized events a year.
BBK aspires to forever transform the way Kenyans with intellectual disabilities are viewed in schools and the community.
My friendship with my buddy has been quite outstanding and a turning point to my whole life. Hardly can a week pass without making contact with each other.
