Project Great Teams supports children and youth throughout Slovakia. The project aims to get young people find the most appropriate and natural way to build a good team based on values and a strong friendship that is reinforces by shared experiences. Another objective of the project is to offer young people a space and funding for meaningful leisure.
Positive natural teams of kids fall apart as the children spend more time in front of computers and television, barely moving, barely go to the countryside, often from split families. Children are more than ever threatened by drug and other addictionsm increasing aggression, bullying. Therefore the project focuses on the great examples of the great teams. We want to give a chance to grow up in a safe environment, learn from peers and set a positive example for other children in Scouting but also beyond.
In thanks to you, the donors of Great Teams, the Slovak Scouting supported 10 great projects in 2014. They focus on the personal development of individuals, technical skills of teenagers and they aim to deepen the relations between party members. Every single project is original and fits well to the particular team of the scouts. Slovak Scouting prepares an annual nationwide contest for the best team 49 teams were involved this years, which represents about 320 scouts. It focuses on the knowledge, skills and most team spirit.
Thanks to you we could have been providing not only financial support of these teams, but to teach young people to plan, carry out their dreams, which are for their future springboard.
There are many ways to spend free time when you are a king or young man. Slovak Scouting provides the opportunity to spend it meaningfully. TV or computer is replaced by nature, instead of drugs and violence offers good friends. The project, Great Teams encourages the development groups consisting of six to eight children who actively use their free time, they develop their skills, make friends and learn to cooperate.
The project not only affects children who are part of Great Teams. They are in fact a good example and serve as a model and inspiration for many others who have the opportunity to spend their free time with quality and attractive. Slovak Scouting supported by 50 Great Teams with 600 members till now.
The leaders of Teams met together in September 2011 in Rajecká Lesná. One hundred of them took part in this meeting. Through games, workshops and discussions were looking for new inspirational ideas on how to be a good leader and lead children to meaningful leisure activities in a safe environment.
