After the success of the International Day for Street Children 2011 - which was celebrated across the globe in more than 30 countries, and gave a louder voice to millions of street children worldwide - the Consortium for Street Children is working to build more awareness among the public and with international governments of street children's rights in 2012.
We want more countries to recognise the day and get involved, more street children to be a part of the celebrations and take ownership of the day and even more policy makers and Governments to take notice and listen. We want to be even LOUDER together!
The focus for 2012 moves from awareness raising to changing perceptions. Street children are often perceived in a hugely negative light. We want them to be perceived as valuable members of society, consulted on in matters that concern them, and to have their voices listened to.
We are currently planning activities for the 2012 international day and will be able to share more exciting news later on in the year.
