Help us reach low- and middle-income students through hands-on, fun learning opportunities designed to inspire them to prepare for the Washington State Opportunity Scholarship Program and earn their degree.
Low-income students across Washington state lack opportunities to experience fun, hands-on exposure to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and connection with professionals and role models in these fields. The Summer Education Enrichment Program (SEEP), organized by the College Success Foundation's HERO (Higher Education Readiness Opportunity) program, will supplement school-year instruction in STEM and foster a college-going, goal-setting environment for at-risk youth.
The summer enrichment program will supplement school-year instruction in STEM and writing for 80 low-income students. The ability to incorporate inquiry-based learning, leadership development; topical weekly field trips and writing to support STEM learning will provide a unique academic enrichment opportunity for students. The goal of SEEP is to provide measurable academic enrichment for participants we well as service-learning opportunities for college students and volunteers.
HERO has the expertise, experience and proven track record to support school teams in narrowing the achievement gap, decreasing the dropout rates for youth of color and underrepresented students while making college a viable option. By providing opportunities for students to engage in fun, educational activities, connect with role models and take interest in STEM topics
