About six months ago, the village of Vadgaon Tampura approached CRHP to assist with development needs. At the time CRHP already had over 20 villages on its waitlist and could not commit to a partnership. CRHP advised the village leaders to mobilize their community to gather consensus as well as visit some of CRHP’s project villages to get a better sense of the possible partnership. In the mean time, Vadgoan Tampura not only mobilized their community but also gathered the support of their local government to lend a hand.
Now, with your support, CRHP is embarking on a 5-year commitment of development in Vadgaon Tampura. One chronic issue that this village faces is a lack of reliable sources of clean water. The local government has promised to provide tube wells. In addition, they are also assisting with the construction of toilets and bathrooms for each household with the building of a centralized water tank. This is a special joint venture with the local government to address water-related needs. For their part the community has already collected stones, gravel and sand for building toilets.
The village is currently going through the process of selecting a Village Health Worker. Once the VHW has been trained, she will be able to mobilize the community groups such as Farmers’ Clubs, Women SHG and adolescent groups. The Mobile Health Clinic will start weekly visits to the village very soon. We will keep you posted with the next update report.
