Creative Minds International Academy (CMIA)- www.creativemindsacademy.net, is our model school in Jos, Nigeria. We are empowering our students with tools for critical thinking to investigate information and inter-connectedness of all life, and then make wise decisions for sustainable relationships with each other and with Earth herself. Constantly importing tools from international educators and innovators, we exercise courage to add leading-edge ways to learn and to dignify each other.
Education faces a lot of challenges in Nigeria. The first and perhaps the greatest challenge facing education is inadequate funding .There is also the problem of lack of access due to high costs of schooling (which include the cost of books, uniforms, tuition fees, and transportation), opportunity costs, illness and hunger, limited economic costs of education and low quality, etc. Statistics indicate glaring imbalances against girls in enrollment, attendance and completion rates in all levels.
Creative Minds International Academy will provide opportunities for formal education, leadership training and mentorship/career guidance to 5000 young Nigerians, especially those from less privileged home and girls to build sustainable, independent futures-ensuring they are not vulnerable to being abused, trafficked or used as agents of violence and crisis. We will build more classrooms, employ more teachers, and provide textbooks, school uniforms and meals to children in school.
Creative Minds International Academy will increase school enrollment, especially among young girls in Nigeria, train and develop global leaders, and break the cycle of illiteracy in the communities where we work; thereby creating the opportunities the children need to fulfill their dreams and potential. The children of this world deserve what is best, and we must not give them anything less.
Through Creative Minds International Academy, we know that we can help change society's attitudes and make our young boys and girls discover and develop their inherent gifts, talents and potentials. - Emmanuel Ande Ivorgba, Founder
