The purpose of this project is to provide small grants for economic integration of landmine victims who live in poor rural region of Azerbaijan in order to support socio-economic development, entrepreneurship and self-sufficiency.Through financing small entrepreneurship activities that will be designed and implemented by landmine survivors themselves, this project will enhance the economic and social life of these people and their families and becoming self-sufficient members of the community
As a result landmine accidents more than 3000 people in Azerbaijan have become mine victims. Unfortunately we receive information on new mine victims. faced with high unemployment levels mine victims rely on self-employment as the only accessible option for landmine survivors as well as many invalids to earn for livelihood. in general, it is difficult to find a formal job in Azerbaijan. One of the main obstacles to self-employment of mine victims is access to capital for small business start-ups
9 landmine victims will receive small grants and will use it to establish their own small businesses in areas of their choice based on their personal interest and applicability to their living situations. This new economic activity will allow them to provide adequately for themselves and their families and to feel as productive and competent members of society. They will establish the basic foundations of their business so as to have a firm foundation from which to build in future years.
The project will 9 landmine victims receive small grants allowing them to rise out of poverty, which will provide for their families' health and well-being. This will likely have significant psychological benefits in addition to the direct economic advantages. This project has a potential to address and resolve a serious poverty problem of one of the most neglected population groups in the country - the landmine victims and their families.
