Summary
Marginalized populations are not included in the media. Rather, voices speak of them and at them. We will create a media channel to contrast to loudly heard voices of investors, World Bank, the IMF.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Poor and rural individuals, typically left out of policy- making, who need a communication vehicle for working with each other and making their needs known to decision-makers.
How will this project solve this problem?
Our network builds on the South Asia People's Forum. We will encourage interaction. We will produce TV-quality videos, radio-quality audiotapes, and print-quality features and news stories that we will place directly into the media.
Potential Long Term Impact
The network will provide needed public information and bring marginalized voices into discussion. Understanding what globalization is doing and ensuring public measures that are effective will result. Impact will be on human rights and development.
Project Message
This is a very innovative idea. So far we have heard politicians and NGOs on this subject. It is time we hear the authentic voices of the people who are affected and deprived. Can I help?
