Summary
We are training 100 youths in trauma and counseling so that they can counsel 1000 raped girls sexually abused in rural Kenya after the post election violence and continous home raids by militia gangs.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
400,000 people were displaced after the post election violence in Kenya 2008. Girls and women experienced the worst ordeal. Many were gang raped. Cases of mother and their daughters raped by one man is very high ‘We are helping raped girls and women to recover from the ordeal of rape and sexual abuse by proving counseling, medication and play therapy’ Gichuki Francis, Executive Director
How will this project solve this problem?
•If we train more counselors, we shall be able to reach more girls and women
•By providing counseling services, the raped girls and mothers will recover leading a normal live
•Through medication, the health of the girls and mothers will be better
Potential Long Term Impact
This project will support 1000 raped girls and mothers through counseling, medication and sports therapy which will help them live a normal life, be integrated and accepted in the community.
