The best experience to say:  NO TO SEXUAL ABUSE

When you arrive to a School, reach a group of students who look very happy and with their laughing and joy permeate the environment, is perhaps the most important reason to think that in this place we have a lot of work to do, to keep those smiles in the boys and the girls in the world. It is a must to carry a message of optimism and above all a message of protection to those kids that will allow extending their joy during their lives.

At the beginning of the workshop, “My limits and yours” the boys and girls don't understand what this topic is about, but when we begin to talk about their private parts, and the topics are discussed, their attitude changes, they understand that the only thing we are looking for is to teach them their rights, and in a fun way, when we begin to work, we can see their faces illuminated with hope because they know that they are not alone.

One of the activities developed by the Corpolatin teachers, to prevent sexual abuse is called “Dress me up" that aims to teach them to care their intimate parts and understand the importance of covering them and protect them, (see attached images), with scraps of fabric, glue and group work, we carry out a reflection on the respect of the body, talking about, what to do when someone tries to see you or to touch you in your private parts, and it is in this way we teach “how limits are marked” and what to do in such cases.

"With the same hand that they caress me they should not harm me” is one of the phrases that a children who participated in one of our workshops said. Probably he never thought that his words said with such simplicity, could moved everyone so much. This is what we want that, all the Colombian boys and girls to understand and to realize that the message got there and that our work was not lost.

Finally, knowing what the teachers think about our work, allows us to evaluate, looking always for better results, their opinion is essential. They are the support of the students, since sometimes they stay more time with the children, even more than their parents; many children put their trust in them when they are victims of sexual abuse. That is why it is so important for them to be able to detect when a child is having this kind of problems.

One of the teachers after one of the workshops said: "These topics are of great importance since our work requires to be constantly enabling us to detect some alerts and to help them to deal with them... This workshop was excellent going through each topic of interest and very well explained. Congratulations".
