The South Central Florida Professional Chapter of EWB-USA is partnering with HERO (Health Education Relief Organization) to help provide clean, potable water to the village of Corail Lamothe in Haiti.
The 200+ residents of Corail Lamothe share an untreated, distant, contaminated water source with 5,000 people in neighboring communities, and walk up to six hours every day to reach it. The people of Corail Lamothe use the spring water to drink, cook, wash their clothes and bathe. They risk contracting water borne diseases from the contaminated spring due to animal and human waste. This project is designed to provide reliable, clean, and safe water to benefit all of the Haitians in this area.
Engineers Without Borders works to ensure that projects are truly effective and sustainable. Over the course of several years, work consists of a detailed site and health assessment, custom cistern design, implementation, and maintenance education
With the adoption of the water project in Haiti, comes a 5 year partnership between our EWB SCFL chapter and the community of Corail Lamothe. We will work with the community to provide necessities of life.
