Summary
Through the establishment of computer labs, the program provides economically disadvantaged children in Vietnam with practical training in computer literacy to enhance their employment opportunities.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Computer literacy is one of the largest unmet needs of the educational systems in Vietnam, and often what holds young students back from being part of the global community. The "life skills" computer lab programs provide students with much needed practical training and skills that are marketable to employers. Each computer lab is established directly in a school, mainly secondary ones, and will be utilized on average by over 1,000 children.
How will this project solve this problem?
We achieve our goals through the establishment of computer labs directly in the schools accompanied by teacher training. Training ensures adequate knowledge transfer from teacher to student, and ensures that the hardware is maintained properly.
Potential Long Term Impact
The core of the computer program is to help reduce the digital divide by providing computers to schools that could otherwise not afford them and to have a significant impact on the level of computer access and training of underprivileged children.
Project Message
We have plans to help the poor children of Vietnam stay in school and avoid poverty. Computer labs are in high demand and will help our children learn a skill.
