Main Library Building

Main Library Building
This building has a leaking roof that needs extensive repair, better still, a total replacement. Total repainting with mould-resistant semi-gloss paints. 34 equal-sized windows and 6 small equal-sized windows need to be replaced (view small | med | large | orig)

Louvre Windows of the Library

Louvre Windows of the Library
At optimal performance louvre blades admit water resulting in humidity and mould, heat making it too hot, rain clumped all books together, dust break down lignin in books, wood frames harbour termites, direct ultraviolet rays fade the books and destroy archival materials and archived documents (view small | med | large | orig)

Showing rust

Showing rust
This is the best environmental protection the current windows give. They do not close at all because of the rust. Unsafe practice of burglary-proof has to be replaced with safer thermal heavy-duty windows (view small | med | large | orig)

Current Library furniture

Current Library furniture
Totally unsafe and insufficient. Untreated wood is easily damaged. We want to replace the tables with the type that has no privacy shield and can convert to discussion table, educational board game tables on Saturday mornings. Research shows that tweens and teens do not want a totally quiet environment (view small | med | large | orig)

Current Library furniture

Uncomfortable seats in a dusty environment with warped bookshelves. Barnes and Noble Booksellers donated strong engineered bookshelves with treated wood accents (view small | med | large | orig)

Library Floor

Library Floor
Cracked and dusty floor of pictures 5 and 6 has recently been tiled with Armstrong commercial grade Excelon tiles for durablity. The walls are still very dirty and need to be repainted with mould-resistant semi-gloss paint. The environment is very dusty making spot-cleanability with warm water, soft cloth and soap a very important factor. Installed July 2009 (view small | med | large | orig)

Custom Library Door

Custom Library Door
Theft-detterence and attention to detail made us instal a custom mahogany door. I strongly believe that a child growing up in a good environment is very innovative. Funds were raised for this from a sale of alumni lapel pins. This is the second floor of the Library on Agidimo Hill (view small | med | large | orig)

The future of every nation is shapened on the laps of a mother. We have to educate them soundly and correctly. Teach one, she will teach 20 more. (view small | med | large | orig)
