The community radio, run by women, will improve the wellbeing in and around Mhaswad through useful and relevant programming, which will enrich their civic and cultural life.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
In order to give a voice to the people of Mhaswad area, Mann Deshi created a community radio, Mann Deshi Tarang. This gives the 18,000 people of Mhaswad area a chance to be heard. Young people and elders will be given the opportunity to exchange their points of view and talk about their experiences. Mann Deshi Tarang’s mission is to provide the people of Mhaswad with a platform to voice concerns, express creativity, promote development, preserve their culture, and communicate with one another.
How will this project solve this problem?
The community radio station broadcasts for one hour in the morning and one hour in the evening; the broadcast includes targeted programs for women, children, youth, and farmers, with different important topics.
Potential Long Term Impact
People in the rural areas of India are often left behind by conventional media platforms. This community radio program will be by the people, for the people and is an ideal way to promote social economy, cultural development, agriculture & education.
Project Message
By fostering direct participation, the radio will expand the reach of voice and concern of the community and enable to change its economical and social life.
