What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The Feral Cat Coalition has made great leaps in the past few years doubling the number of cats spayed/neutered each year, but awareness of the need for and availability of our services is still a challenge. Spreading the word throughout the community that we are able to help feral and stray cats, and their caregivers, is key to helping more cats.
How will this project solve this problem?
The Climb for Cats is a 2-mile loop up and down a course of public outdoor stairways in beautiful Northwest Portland. The goal of this annual event is to generate awareness about feral cats and the importance of spaying/neutering.
Potential Long Term Impact
The more caregivers who know about our services means the more cats spayed/neutered, which ultimately prevents the suffering of unwanted/ homeless kittens born on the streets, left to struggle for survival.
