Enable the community of Ambelalie, Ethiopia to improve their health and to use their time for economic development by building and maintaining a sustainable safe water & sanitation system
For the 250 residents of Ambelalie fetching water is a daily struggle that often takes hours to complete. Traditional water sources are vanishing & the disappearance of natural forests & vegetation cover has accelerated soil erosion, causing a severe decrease in water infiltration rates to underground aquifers. They must share the available water sources with neighboring villages, resulting in fighting between village men & women who are desperate to provide water for their families
The project consists of putting in a new deep tubewell with hand-pump and drainage system and pit latrines for each household. Project also includes health education, community development and technical training.
250 people will gain access to safe & adequate water & sanitation facilities.
