Having access to clean, safe water means children can go to school instead of spending their day collecting water. Having access to clean, safe water means people no longer have to suffer from chronic waterborne diseases. Having access to clean, safe water means hope for a healthy future.
In our world today, one in eight people lack access to clean drinking water. In Cambodia today, 30% lack access to clean water and 74% of all deaths come from waterborne diseases.
Through your generosity, you have provided over 1,000 children and their families in Taek Village clean drinking water and hygiene education for the very first time. The impact that has been made in the community is unmistakable:- 98% of students now wash their hands with soap- The economic prosperity within the community has increased- School attendance has improved by reducing the number of days missed due to chronic diarrhea caused by drinking unsafe water
For those living in Taek Village, having access to clean, safe water for the first time means that over 400 students and 1,000 villagers can’t stop smiling!
Thank you - YOU have helped us reach nearly 75% of our goal! Please continue to give the gift of water – and spread the word – because together, we can also find out what having clean, safe water means to Chey Village...
Over the last year, we have shared stories about the lives you have transformed in Taek Village in Siem Reap, Cambodia by providing access to clean, safe water and hygiene education to those in need. Many young women and children no longer have to spend their days collecting water, and hundreds of children no long suffer from chronic waterborne illnesses such as typhoid, diarrhea, and skin disease.
We set out nearly 18 months ago to transform the lives of children and their families in two villages…and we’re almost there! Over a year ago, an AquaTower and our Water-Health & Hygiene education program was deployed in the first community, Taek Village, and with your continued support and generosity, we can reach our goal and provide clean water and hygiene education into the second community, Chey Village.
There are a million reasons to give clean water…they are just one.
Happy New Year!
Thanks to all of your kind hearts and generous donations, Planet Water has continued to be able to fundraise in efforts to bring clean, safe water and hygiene education to those in need in Cambodia.
Your support, especially in the month of December, gave the gift of water to so many children in need. Right now, today, over 1,000 children and their family members have seen a dramatic decrease in incidents of chronic diarrhea resulting from drinking safe water and receiving hygiene education. Do you know what this means?.... a decrease in absenteeism for the school children - allowing for more time spent at school and less time spent at home sick. This also means that young children and women can spend their days getting an education and helping to create economic prosperity in their communities instead of collecting water for hours each day.
Once again, thank you for giving the gift of water - your continued donations and support in these efforts are getting us closer to being able to deploy an AquaTower in Chey Village soon, so that another 1,000 lives can be transformed!
From the children at school drinking clean water for the first time, to the young girls and women who no longer have to spend their days collecting water, over 1,000 people’s lives have been transformed thanks to YOU!
For over a year now, since having clean, safe water from the AquaTower and receiving our hygiene education program, the children and families living in Taek Village are no longer suffering from waterborne illness! The AquaTower has made an impact in the lives of so many, especially the young girls who are now able to stay in school instead of spending their days collecting water. The students continue to bring the clean water home from school and their newly learned hygiene practices, such as hand washing, are now becoming habits.
Thank you for your continued donations and help in these efforts, as we are hoping to deploy the AquaTower in Chey Village soon so that another 1,000 lives can be transformed!
Last year, we set out to bring clean water and hygiene education to over 2,000 children and community members through the installation of AquaTowers in Taek and Chey villages in Siem Reap. Over the last twelve months, you have helped to transform the lives of those living in Taek Village...look at what YOU have done:
- Provided clean, safe water to over 1,000 children and community members for the first time through an AquaTower being installed at Taek Primary School
- Provided hygiene education to over 500 students...now, "98% of students wash their hands with soap" - as quoted by school Headmaster, Seng Sreilleak
- Improved school attendance by reducing the number of school days missed due to chronic diahrrea caused by drinking unsafe water
- Enabled girls to get an education by spending more time in school, and less time collecting water
- Helped to increase the economic prosperity within the community
- Empowered children to act as the catalyst for change within their families regarding the importance of clean water
Thanks to your generosity, we have reached over 50% of our goal! Do you want to continue to make a difference?
If so, donate now and help us reach our goal for this project by bringing clean water and education to over 1,000 people through the installation of an AquaTower in Chey Village.
If we can raise just over $7,000 in the month of June, the children and community members of Chey Village will also receive clean, safe water for the very first time by the end of the summer!
Thank you again for all that you have done!
