Dear Friend and Supporter-
Thanks to your support, our Clean Fuels and Cookstoves for Schools in Uganda project is well under way.
You will recall that we initiated fuel-briquette production at the Rubaare Educational Foundation (REF) in the fall. Now that the students are back from winter break, the school will begin producing briquettes at full capacity.
There has been one wrinkle in production capabilities that we did not foresee: the unseasonably heavy rainfall that has disrupted the drying of the briquettes, a critical part of the process. As we head into the rainy season, it is becoming imperative that we build a production shelter for the main campus of REF. Without adequate protection it will be difficult for the schools to produce the fuel briquettes they need to replace their use of the more expensive and unsustainable wood fuel.
We are halfway towards raising the $1,800 that we need to construct the production facility – won’t you help us get to the top? March 14th is a GlobalGiving Bonus Day, with GlobalGiving providing a 30% match on donations up to $1,000 made that day. Please contribute and see your donation amplified by GlobalGiving.
Kim will be traveling to Rubaare in the early days of March to visit Henry, the schools, and the project. We will bring back photos and videos to show you how work is progressing!
Thank you again for all your support!
Sincerely,
Kim Chaix & Sylvia Herzog
