Here is a current update from the Brookings-Harbor Redshirts on our Christmas in July program. We were able to go beyond our target and send over 60 care packages to our troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the soldiers sent back a reply:
“Thank you so much for your support with each package, your thoughts and prayers. They are appreciated beyond anything we can express in this letter. It’s comforting to know that Americans like you still care enough to take time out of your busy schedule to let us know how much you care.” (From Matthew Draheim)
We have been able to bring a lot of joy to our troops during this hot summer, thanks to your generosity. Even though we have not met our financial goal so far, we were able to still send more care packages than originally planned.
As far as the Christmas in July Project goes, we consider it a huge success and since we do this annually, we will keep this as an ongoing project and try to get it fully funded. We want to extend our appreciation to all of you who have donated to make this a success and to Global Giving for giving us the platform for this mission.

Project Reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you will get an e-mail when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports via e-mail without donating or by subscribing to this project's RSS feed.
Combined with other sources of funding, this project raised enough money to fund the outlined activities and is no longer accepting donations.
