Summary
The project consists of installing a community playroom, which promotes the suitable use of free time and real organizational and management skills in children who are at social risk.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The project needs materials and personnel to create a playroom for 300 children of the “7 de Junio” community in San Juan de Miraflores, in the southern part of Lima. In this area, there are no parks or sports courts; children do not have the opportunity to access play materials at home. Furthermore, there exists in the community serious delinquency problems. Because of this, the children suffer from low self-esteem, perform poorly at school and have problems relating adequately to others.
How will this project solve this problem?
Create a community playroom that promotes the suitable use of free time, teach organization and management skills in socially at-risk children, hold workshops to create toys and games with recyclable materials and train local teachers and aides.
Potential Long Term Impact
An installed communal playroom; children and adults learn about the importance of the space for their development; and 5 adolescents learn to constitute themselves in promotion, such as a strategy of sustainability for the project.
Project Message
