Summary
Advocacy in welfare services for socially disadvantaged children.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The child care welfare system is largely financially supported by gov. w/ 6,000 children in orphanages. But this model is more expensive & ineffective, adversely effecting childrens' personalities and our society.
This project enhances our existing welfare services and tries to exploit Slovak legal conditions if favor of subsititue family care for those children w/out families. We want attorneys to help set precedented decisions.
How will this project solve this problem?
Welfare activities for these children will be more powerful & effective; there will be faster placement of children from institution to substitute family; cooperation w/ attorney can give us higher status in Slovak welfare system
Potential Long Term Impact
Substitute families as a solution for children without families resulting in about 40 children from orphanages living in substitute homes and about 20 children who live in crises centers will be able to go to substitute homes instead of orphanages
Project Message
I wish to live in a society, where a child's right to a family (biological or substitute) is reality.
This project legally supports a welfare push for preparing of this reality."
