Art Competition won by several Chikumbuso students

This past month our Students at Chikumbuso were invited to compete in an Art Competition here in Lusaka. Many of our students spent their Saturdays and afternoons working with some of the teachers to present their best piece in the competition. Friday we received the results that six of our students were selected to attend a two-day ART PROGRAMME to be held at the Visual Arts Centre in the Showgrounds!

The programme started today at 8.30am and ended at 4.00pm. and will run tomorrow as well. This is a fun-filled programme where the children have the privilege of guidance from some of Zambia's top artists. They will spend the day there honing their skills and enjoying lunch with those who love art as much as they do!
One child commented that they are now able to see art as the way it is supposed to be. The day is spent learning the elements of art and the thinking process behind each piece.
The children who attended today found this to be a great opportunity. Not only do they enjoy being with the artists but also  meeting with other children from around Lusaka that are more advanced in art than themselves. Along with the workshop the students went to visit galleries and saw for themselves that art is worth something! What a great experience for the students of Chikumbuso. They cannot wait to go back tomorrow!  Thank you stART Foundation for making this happen!
