Over the past months, ChangeEdcuate has been in the process of designing, building, interating and editing the ChangeEducate website. The ChangeEducate website will serve as the foundation for the organization's curricula both in and outside of the classroom. We have bene investing the time and effort to ensure the CE website meets the highest standards in order to incentivize both students and teachers to actualy make use of the site.

The website is structured into 5 phases. These phases were designed and created to provide a step-by-step structure for students to learn about poverty, its solutions, identify their own interests and learn how to create and implement their own projects to combat poverty. On the site, each of these phases features a host of content that spans the DVD-based curricula that ChangeEducate has created to UN-verified facts and resources that can empower students learn about poverty using resources made available on the site as well as resources they can use independently. The site will even tests students on the knowledge generated by the site itself and functions as a teaching software or education SaaS (software as a service) that teachers can use in a classroom setting. As a result of the substantial effort put into place by ChangeEducate's web development team, the website now features:

  • Integrated and interactive ChangeEducate video content that teaches users about underlying factors causing poverty, key definitions and categorizations of types of poverty and the current state of development across various countries
  • An interactive and engaging ChangeEducate process that was created to educate and empower website users, both educators and students, the steps they need to take to contribute to the fight against poverty
  • Graphics, facts and interactive content meant to walk students through complex issues that contribute to global poverty
  • Solutions implemented by real students around the world meant to show students that each individual can make a differnece
  • Resources that can help guide students throughout their project implementation
  • An interactive social/professional network to which students can contribute their ideas, share their projects and collaborate to end poverty.

At ChangeEducate, our goal has been to create a curricula that combines high quality educational media, video and presentatoins with professionally prepared lesson plans with an interactive website that can function as a holistic curricula that be used and implmented by teachers in and outside of a classroom. As we near the completion of the website, we are excited to say that we are almost fully prepared to launch a pilot. Our next update will discuss logistics, timelines and target goals for the piilot. Please do not hesitate to help us be fully prepared to launch either through donations, suggestions or comments or any other ideas you may have.

Also, please feel free to visit the site and check it out. It is linked to this post as an attachment!

Last month, ChangeEducate had the opportunity to present our in-progress site to a group of business school and undergraduate students and faculty at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business Social Entrepreneurship Fair. We received some exciting and creative feedback that is helping to shape the site.

As the winter holidays approaches, the ChangeEducate is putting the final touches on its website and preparing for a beta launch to our supporters and classrooms nationwide in the next few weeks. We are particularly excited to share with you our own social media platform through which students will be able to share their projects and build off one another’s success. Below is a sneak peak of what this will look like.

Please reach out if you or anyone you know would be interested in testing our site upon launch. We are particularly excited to work with teachers and students who would be willing to spread the word of our new site to their classrooms and beyond!

Thanks for your continued support,

The ChangeEducate Team

Phase 1: Poverty as a Framework
Phase 1: Poverty as a Framework

Dear all,

For the last few months, the ChangeEducate team has been working hard to revamp our curricular material and our interactive website. We are very close to the big launch, and would like to share with you a "sneak preview" of what is to come. The new website will feature our innovative five-phase method, through which students will learn about poverty as a framework for strategizing social entpreneurial solutions in their communities and beyond. Shortly after the launch, we will be seeking students and educators who would like to help us pilot and perfect the site for use by students around the world. If you are a student or educator, or know anyone who would like to be invovled in this process, please reach out to us!

Thanks for your constant support and we look forward to sharing this exciting new site with you in the coming weeks!

With love,

The ChangeEducate Team

We are excited to be putting the final touches on our brand new website - to be launched by the end of next month. Our team has been hard at work developing a re-designed site that will guide students through our five step process through interactive visuals, quizzes, and other innovative curricular activities. Students will begin by learning to about poverty as a frameowork for understanding social entrepreneurship. They will have access to information on a wide variety of social issues and receive concrete guidance for narrowing their interests down to a project idea. After developing a project idea, students will have access to tools and resources for launching their idea, and ultimately be able to post their idea to a visual board displaying all of their peer's projects around the world.

We have curated some of the best videos, stories, and resources around the web to guide students to a successful project launch. We are confident that this re-vamped site will allow ChangeEducate to be accessible by students and teachers around the world and cannot wait to share our final product with you!

Happy new year from the ChangeEducate team! In the past few months, our team has been hard at work redesigning our website so as to encompass our full curriculum and gear our content towards students of all ages, interest levels, and experiences digitally.

As we are in the process of making our tools and resources accessible to both students and teachers for free online, we have identified talented high school students to assist in the creation and editing of content so as to ensure we reach our audience as effectively as possible. We are looking forward to continuing these partnerships and welcome any additional assistance from students or teachers you may know!

With our sights set on 2014, we are excited to be moving towards completion of the site. Thank you all for your continued support! If you have questions or would like to learn more about these updates, please feel free to reach out to me at katie.guidera@changeeducate.org.
