Our project will educate, empower, and enable 5000 students to produce innovative, sustainable and high-impact solutions to end poverty around the world through a high school curriculum and social platform.
Recently, mandatory volunteer hours have surged in high schools across the country. Despite this, students still have limited awareness of development solutions and believe the only ways they can alleviate poverty are by fundraising or volunteering. They don't know HOW to use their intelligence and creativity to sustainably end poverty. Additionally, our team polled 712 HS teachers and 86% of teachers desired a curriculum on poverty that would empower and enable students to innovate change.
Our 5-day curriculum takes a 3-pronged approach to teach students about poverty & development, and to provide tangible ways they can alleviate poverty. First, teachers show students our DVD on poverty, its causes, developmental solutions and how to innovate change. Second, teachers choose from 30+ customizable lesson plans to engage students in real poverty issues. Finally, students can access our educational website, an invaluable source for social access, supplementary resources and mentorship
In our two years, we will educate & empower 165 high school classrooms to innovate social change, each classroom with sustainable projects of their own. We will galvanize students across the nations to use their intelligence to creatively and powerfully tackle issues of hunger, education, infrastructure, and more. By pricing our DVD at a reasonable rate, we will be able to keep our project sustainable and provide grant funding back to students for them to make their projects a reality.
