Since our last post, we’ve gotten even closer to empowering 500 young Cubans with cell phones and the ability to communicate with each other.
The young people we were able to give cell phones now have their own personal tools to tell their story to friends, family, and other Cubans off of the island. Each youth in Cuba has unique experiences, ideas, and outlooks on the future of Cuba. The nearly 500 phones will enable the world to hear and learn from these special people.
Though it is a challenge we face, we are happy to report that we are close to running out of cell phones to send down. With your help, we can build up our inventory for the next 500 youth in Cuba we plan on empowering with new phones. We have big goals to look forward to!
Your gifts have directly provided the modern human right of communication to youth in Cuba. On behalf of the Cubans you’ve been able to help, Raíces de Esperanza, and the Cell Phones for Cuba team we thank you for your continued support. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org
Over the past three months, we've sent another 150+ cell phones to youth in Cuba. That brings our grand total of cell phones to Cuba over the past 9 months to 450.
450!! 450 youth in Cuba now have a way to communicate with each other. They have a way to communicate with those outside of the island. Most importantly, I can guarantee you there were 450 different looks of surprise when each one of them received a cell phone in their hands.
Our stockpile is down to crumbs, but we're determined to get the remaining young Cubans new cell phones. Then, we have the number 1,000 in our sights.
Your gifts have directly provided the modern human right of communication to youth in Cuba. We truly thank you for them and your continued support. If there is ever anything I can do for you, please don’t hesitate to contact me at email@example.com.
I would like to thank each of our donors on behalf of the Cell Phones for Cuba team and Roots of Hope. We hope your new year has gotten off to a great start. We are pleased to announce the incredible success of our holiday campaign.
In Cuba, the majority of Cuban youth celebrate the end of the holiday season on January 6th, The Day of the Three Kings. We are happy to announce that before January 6th, over 115 Cuban youth received a brand new, Cuba-capable cell phone.
Of the funds collected during our Global Giving Challenge, $1500 was spent on the shipment of the 115 cell phones. The remainder of the funds was allocated towards the purchase of another 200 brand new, Cuba-capable camera cell phones which will be sent to another 200 Cuban youth as soon as possible.
Once again, we thank you for your steadfast support of our initiative. Your gifts are directly providing youth in Cuba with the modern human right of communication. If there is ever anything I can do for you – on any front – please don’t hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
