Summary

The Pemano project is helping to rehabilitate convicted young men (between 18 and 25 years old) in a prison in Vale do Paraíba (São Paulo-Brazil) through IT education and digital inclusion

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

CDI is a NGO which promotes social and digital inclusion through IT and civic engagement schools. In partnership with FUNAP and the detention centre administration, the Pemano project is helping to rehabilitate convicted young men. Since its foundation in 2004, the project has helped 700 men to put their lifes together and go back to society after the end of the sentence.

How will this project solve this problem?

Our educational programs provide social and IT skills training. At our service center, the prisoners develop activities such as Poetry Festivals, Music Festivals, Theatre Performances among others.

Potential Long Term Impact

The Pemano project aims to provide knowledge and self-esteem throurgh IT education, that would make possible for these convicted young men to perform personal transformation and development and become part of the society again.
