Your support will provide a fully operational environmental community training center in addressing the protection of outstanding biodiversity on the Tsunami hit island of Phra Thong, Thailand.
The extraordinary biodiversity of Thailand’s coastal ecosystems are under increasing pressures from unsustainable natural resource exploitation. There is a great need to support local communities on Phra Thong Island to conserve their unique area while supporting sustainable livelihood projects. The Coastal Community Resource Center (CCRC) will address these critical needs and serve as a unifying structure for future local community development activities and capacity building.
Joining two donated houses structurally plus weatherization, roof repairs, rainwater harvesting, solar panels, windows; Operating environmental education programs and activities (sea turtle and seagrass monitoring, mangrove restoration, Eco-tourism)
A fully functional CCRC provides the community with a base from which environmental awareness and activism can grow. The future security of the island hinges upon a unified environmentally informed community practicing sustainable livelihoods.
