Commitment

Dear CCEdFund Family on GlobalGiving,

We write for 2 reasons this month: 1) to update you about CCEdFund's students in Phnom Penh and their commitment to academic success and improving Cambodia; and 2) to ask you to help CCEdFund win $2,000 in the Recurring (monthly) Donations Campaign on GlobalGiving.  Will you make a monthly commitment (of $10) to the success of amazing students in Cambodia?

First, Kouch and Sokha have successfully finished mid-term exams in Phnom Penh and they are preparing to finish their school year!  As you know, these girls grew up on a massive garbage dump outside of Phnom Penh and were given CCEdFund scholarships because of their commitments to education and ambitious goals for Cambodia.  Despite the 30+ year civil war that ravaged their country after the Khmer Rouge were toppled, these girls firmly believe that they can help redevelop their country and lift it out of poverty peacefully.  We are confident that they can do it.  First, they are getting through school.  Sokha, near the top of her 7th grade class, recently was selected to travel to the United States with the 10x10 movie about girls' access to education in the developing world!  While in the U.S., she had a life changing trip and met national leaders including Michelle Obama and Bill Clinton.  Though she is only in 7th grade, she is learning the skills she will need to lead Cambodia in the future.  Kouch is in eighth grade and is successfully overcoming the challenges associated with attending an exceptional school after no previous access to education.  She remains determined, seeks additional help constantly, and loves her biology class the most.  She is eager to begin high school next year and she has found 2 teacher mentors at her school.

These two girls, who had little hope of attending school (much less one of the best schools in Phnom Penh) before receiving a CCEdFund scholarship, are now on the road to fulfilling their dreams for a peaceful Cambodia.  Their commitment to their studies and their country is inspiring.

We hope that you too will make a commitment to their studies during GlobalGiving's Recurring Donations campaign this month (May).  Will you please consider making a monthly donation to CCEdFund today?  Giving $10 a month and making a 12-month commitment will support these students and continue to transform their life paths.  You will also be helping CCEdFund compete to win an additional $2,000 (!!) for getting the most individuals to commit to monthly donations.  Please make your commitment here today!

Thank you so very much for your support to providing educational access to impoverished and orphaned Cambodian students.  You can follow CCEdFund's progress on the GlobalGiving leaderboard here!

With thanks,

Carrie and Jennifer
