Cancer Children Need Hospital Rooms In Nicaragua

So far with the funds raised, we have been able to equip two rooms. Within the packages donated to the hospital there are two hospital beds, orthopedic mattresses, standard IV stands with (two) ram hooks, nebulizers, pulse oximeters, manometers for oxygen tanks, chairs of stay (for the rooms), along with pillows and bed sheets for the children.

With the delivery of this equipment the hospital will be able to increase their capacity for service up to 10%. There still remains to equip two rooms more. These rooms have the capacity to receive four beds in addition to auxiliary equipment. Our goal is to have all the necessary equipment by the month of November of 2011.

"I think that it is very helpful because in the first place by equipping these two rooms, there are children who are now being treated in the Oncology area when before it could not be done due to lack of equipment. The demand for hospital admission is very high, and many children who are in urgent need of care must be accommodated in other rooms. By suffering a sensitive disease the ideal is that these children remain in their own area because of the emergencies this same disease produces and when it comes to performing certain procedures the other children get scared. On the other hand, their hospital stay is more enjoyable because they are on a bed where they can rest better since many of them have been waiting several months to be admitted and they have IV support which gives them free movement. Everything that was donated can help up to 40 children be attended that otherwise would not be attended due to lack of room and medical equipment."
