Summary
Camp Marcella affords blind and visually impaired children a summer camping experience in an environment adapted to meet their needs.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Camp Marcella is available to children with blindness, visual impairments and multiple challenges between the ages of 5 and 17 from New Jersey, as well as New Your, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. There are over 2,600 blind and visually impaired children between Kindergarten and twelfth grade in the state of New Jersey alone.
How will this project solve this problem?
The camp’s programming philosophy is simple; every child has the opportunity to participate in any chosen activity, to the extent that he or she feels comfortable, regardless of visual impairment or physical challenge
Potential Long Term Impact
For over 60 years a stay at Camp Marcella has been a powerful life altering affirmation in the lives of thousands of children with blindness, visual impairments and multiple challenges
