Zimkids Orphan Trust is building its own home to support 160 Zimbabwean orphans with food, sports, arts, education, medical programs and individual attention and to move toward self-sustainability.
For five years we have fed 160 AIDS orphans and their families, offered them educational and psycho-social support and recreational activities from drama to chess, provided for their medical care while operating out of a classroom in a local primary school. The extended families that look after them are overburdened by the growing number of children falling into the care of a decreasing number of adults. Now, we have been given funds to build our own facility.
Funds raised will buy tables, chairs, bookshelves for our computer training center; equipment and supplies for our clinic; irrigation equipment for our market garden, chickens to provide eggs, kitchen equipment, playground equipment and solar panels
Our goal is not only to keep the kids alive but to help them grow into productive, educated and vocationally trained adults, energized, assertive and ready to take initiative for themselves, their families and their community.
