Zero Grazing

By a female, 46-60 years old , in Busia, Kenya
Map of ZERO GRAZING For a very long time I had been using the traditional grazing method of letting the cattles in the field to graze by themselves and watch over them. This method was absolutely tiresome and timewasting. There was also low productivity of the animals in terms milk and meat. One time while attending Nakuru Agricultural show, I learnt about zero grazing where one constructed a zero grazing unit with a pen for each cow with a place where they are fed and how to keep the unit. Clean and disinfecting the unit. This idea struck my minds positively I decided to construct a zero grazing unit for my cows. Though it was expensive, with time I started to reap the results. The animal productivity improved and their prone to diseases reduced and it was easy to control the animals in the unit than in free grazing. Read more.
