Summary

700 talented African children in the slums of Kibera play tennis everyday under very difficult circumstances. By building all-weather courts, we will ensure that they can live their dreams

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

More than 700 boys and girls have been train daily in our slum tennis program within the Kibera slums in Nairobi Kenya. The available spaces are shred with other community activities, and the ground is unstable, and unsafe for use by children. However, the programme is very popular and remains the only opportunity for poor children to get away from their difficult circumstances and begin to achieve their life dreams

How will this project solve this problem?

The project will provide much needed space for children to learn tennis safely, and remain healthy though sport. It will also provide an avenue to the children to play and spend time usefully in a safe learning environment.

Potential Long Term Impact

At least 700 children will have access to tennis training facilities, grow their talent and become tennis players or coaches improving on their health, welfare, social and economic lifestyle

Project Message

I started tennis because it looked interesting, now, I have a scholarship to school, and tennis has taken me to UK to visit Wimbledon and play with other children. I know my dreams can come true
- Amon Muine Nzuki, A 13-year old boy from Kibera
