In Kachiuru they are progressing on well with challenges here and there but they are coping with them since they don’t have much to do. School management is trying its best to support the pupils in one way or the other and one positive change made is to keep pupils in school most of the time. It has been discovered that absenteeism in school has really reduced and parents are encouraging their children to be in school during school days. It has also been noted that scholarship beneficiaries have improved in their performances and this has been taken seriously by the well wishers and they are very happy and willing to continue providing scholarships to these needy children and their parents.
There is also a plan to add more storey gardens in the school as it has proved to do well and help the community to learn more and gain skills on more vegetables production. Once they have reliable source of water they will add more to create room for communities to continue learning and also to supply them with vegetables. Thank you to all well wisher for their continued support.
The school is progressing on well and they are appreciating managing a school with an increased population after January admission. Teachers are enjoying teaching a class of many pupils unlike before when a class would have less than 10 pupils. The school has introduced storey garden farming where they are training pupils on how to erect and manage them for vegetable production. Being an arid region, the storey gardens are working out well and it is also used as demonstration site even to the neighbouring community. We hope they will gain skills on how to erect and manage them to improve their diets and selling surplus if any to other members of the community to meet their other basic needs. Thank you for the support given to this needy community.
Third term was good for Kachiuru pupils and learning environment was much better after construction of classrooms. This was also noted when school admitted more pupils and some who were not attending the school there before. The number of pupils has increased and the community is appreciating what the well-wishers have supported them and their children. Beginning of this school term very needy pupils received their annual scholarships from well-wishers and they even increased the number of beneficiaries especially the one from the most vulnerable households. The scholarships will cater for school uniforms, shoes and stationeries. Thank you very much to all those who are supporting these needy children and ensuring that they benefit through education support.
The school has not yet managed to have the water borehole but they are still hoping that one day they will enjoy this important basic need. School garden is also their hope that they will manage to have at least one to cater for school feeding programme for the school.
Thank you again for all those who are kindly contributing their resources to support these needy children and the community.
Through this project Kachuru school has increased the number of classrooms and it has been a wonderful school term for Kachuru pupils as they enjoyed learning in their new classrooms, not getting scorched under hot sun like they were used to. They are very grateful to well-wishers who have brought change in this community. They hope that soon more classrooms will be constructed to ensure all the pupils are in a good learning environment. Clean water is the next resource that the community at large will be fortunate to have, once the borehole is complete in a few days, as this will be used not only in the school but will be piped for the community at large which they can also use for crop production to ensure food nutrition and security for their households. The school will establish a school garden, which will be a tool for inculcating positive values of agriculture to the pupils involved.
We thank our donors for their continued support.
It’s a new third term for Kachuru primary members i.e. pupils, teachers, parents and community at large. This is after well-wishers supported construction of more classrooms. Pupils could not believe their eyes after reporting back to school after August holiday. Their school has new facelift after having more classrooms constructed. They are happy to continue with the third term in new classrooms. “Am very happy we will be sitting for our final exams in new classrooms which will provide enough space for all us and we will sit comfortably during exams” said Mohammed Bakari a class eight pupil. The construction of the classrooms is still going on and they will also benefit from borehole for clean water access which will provide clean drinking water for the school community and the neighbouring community. They are very happy to the donors for their continued support.
